It's that time again. This year's opening practice was much different than last year. Last year I got a sunburn on the first day. This year I was soaking wet by the end of practice. The field was wet due to the early morning rain, but the rain held off for the first hour of practice. It started raining hard about the last 30 minutes. There were alot of offensive miscues (poor passes, dropped passes, fumbled snaps), but players need to be able to perform well in all weather conditions. Here are a few notes from the North team practice on those who did perform well and those who did not.

Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn will arrive in Mobile this weekend with the other players competing in the Under Armour Senior Bowl, but he will not play in the game because of a minor knee injury.
"After being examined by Dr. James Andrews, Brady has been advised not to participate in the Senior Bowl," said Vic Knight, the Senior Bowl's media-relations director. "It's a minor knee injury that will simply require rest. But he still wanted to come to Mobile and meet with NFL officials and be part of the Senior Bowl." The list of players who will compete in the Jan. 27 all-star game at Ladd-Peebles Stadium still reads like the top of a mock NFL draft, though. Of the seniors most often mentioned as first-round picks, only Clemson defensive end Gaines Adams has officially said he will not be here. University of Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson issued a statement Thursday afternoon saying that he remains undecided about whether he should declare for the NFL draft or return for his senior season at OU.
Peterson issued the statement a day after multiple media outlets reported that the junior had made his decision and would announce entry into the draft. Some reported that Peterson had hired an agent, a move that would make him ineligible to play again at OU. "The facts are that I have not hired any representation, and I have not declared for the draft," Peterson said in a statement issued by OU. "My meetings with Coach Stoops and my parents have been to discuss all the scenarios." Read More From: Tulsa world Gonzalez skipping senior season; enters NFL draft

A three-year starter, Revis possesses prototype size (6-feet-0, 200 pounds), plays even faster than his stopwatch speed and has terrific coverage techniques. He is projected by most scouts as no worse than a second-round choice and could be selected in the first round, since cornerback is such a premium position.
