He caught 11 passes for 382 yards and 3 more scores. On defense he intercepted 5 passes and he blocked 10 kicks on special teams. Aaron spent his final two seasons at John Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas. As a junior he totaled 272 yards and 7 touchdowns on offense. He intercepted 4 passes and recovered 2 fumbles on defense. He also blocked 7 kicks. As a senior, Aaron carried the ball 46 times for 350 yards and 5 touchdowns. He caught 5 passes for 200 yards and 2 more scores. On defense he picked off 6 passes and recovered 3 fumbles while only allowing 1 touchdown pass on the season. He also blocked 3 kicks on special teams and was named second team all-state. Aaron accepted a scholarship to the University of Texas where he saw action in all 13 games as a reserve cornerback and special teams player his true freshman season. He finished the season with 27 tackles and 2 pass break-ups. As a sophomore, Aaron saw action in all 12 games, splitting time with fellow cornerback Tarell Brown. He finished the season with 36 tackles, 3 pass break-ups, and his first career interception. He averaged 7.6 yards per punt return on 18 attempts and had a 26 yard kickoff return. Prior to his senior season, Aaron was elected team captain by his teammates. He went on to start all 12 games at cornerback, finishing with career highs in tackles (80), pass break-ups (19), and interceptions (6). He returned 21 punts for 241 yards and a touchdown. He was named first team all-Big Twelve at the conclusion of the season.

Analysis

Aaron Ross started at cornerback for Texas as a senior, after splitting time the previous three seasons. During that time he has proven to be a very durable player who hasn’t missed time due to injury. He has a good combination of size, speed, and athleticism for a cornerback. He has fluid hips and good ball skills. He makes a lot of plays on the ball while it’s in the air (19 PBU 6 INT in 06). He is better in zone coverage than he is in man coverage. He is also a good run defender who hits hard and displays solid tackling technique. He is an excellent return specialist who could contribute in that capacity at the professional level. Aaron only has one full year of experience as a starter under his belt. He was primarily used in nickel and dime packages prior to his senior season. He is still a bit raw as a cornerback. He will need to improve his technique as he tends to rely on athleticism alone too often. Aaron Ross has some upside but he will take some time to develop as a cornerback. In the meantime he should be able to contribute on special teams for the team that selects him. He could project as a cornerback or free safety at the next level and he has a good chance to be a first round pick in the 2007 NFL draft.

DIMINUTIVE MOSS PLAYS BIG FOR GIANTS

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J -- Sinorice Moss, at 5-foot-8 and 185 pounds, is the smallest player dimensionally in the Giants' locker room. What the wide receiver is trying to do, though, is carve out a disproportionately sized role in the team's offense.
