The following season he totaled 769 yards on 57 receptions, both school records for a freshman receiver. He also averaged over 13 yards per attempt as a punt returner. He was named first team academic all-big twelve for his performance in the classroom that year. As a sophomore, Charles made his mark as a defensive back, leading the big twelve conference with 7 interceptions on the year. He also had 57 tackles, 8 pass break-ups and 2 forced fumbles on the year. He caught 15 passes for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns on offense. Analysis
Charles Gordon is a versatile player who has started at cornerback, receiver, and punt returner during his time at Kansas. He is an athletic corner with fluid hips and a good backpedal. He has good speed and outstanding hands. He can be dangerous with the football in his hands after the interception. He is an instinctive player who always seems to be around the football but he does need to improve his tackling technique. He lacks great size and isn’t a very physical corner. He may need to increase his strength to better handle some of the bigger, stronger receivers in the NFL. He has proven to be a true “team player” who will do anything that is asked of him to help the team. Charles Gordon has bounced back and forth from receiver to corner over the past few years. He is raw and needs to settle into one position. He could project as a corner or receiver at the next level and his ability to contribute as a return specialist will only help his draft day value. He is a bit of a project but he has a great deal of upside and should be a mid round pick on draft day. Player News Feed
