Analysis

Chris Kemoeatu only played in three games as a true freshman in 2001. He earned the starting left guard spot in 2002 and has been a fixture on the Utah offensive line ever since. He has a good deal of experience, having spent time as a starter at both the left guard and right guard positions over the past three seasons. He is a huge guard who weighed in at 344 pounds at the combine. He isn't a very athletic lineman, but he is pretty good for a player his size. He has excellent strength and can be a dominating run blocker at times. He is a pretty good pass blocker but he has a tendency to stay upright and he needs to do a better job of bending his knees. He plays with a real "mean streak" on the field but will sometimes let his temper get the best of him. He has been suspended two separate occasions for kicking opposing players in the head. At his size, conditioning and weight control may be another problem for Kemoeatu. He needs to go to a team that will motivate him to stay in shape for him to be successful. He has the tools to develop into an excellent run blocker and a very good all around guard in the NFL. However he does have some improving to do in terms of technique, particularly when it comes to pass protection for him to get to that point. He could go as early as the third or fourth round in April.
