Undrafted Analysis
Chris Myers is one of the most experienced offensive linemen in the draft. He has started at every position on the line at one time or another during his four year career at the University of Miami. He redshirted in 2000 and was primarily a backup in 2001. He started at right guard for the better part of the next two years, moving to center towards the end of his junior season when Joel Rodriguez was injured. He went back to guard his senior year, but was forced to move to tackle when Eric Winston went down with a season ending injury four games into season. At just over 300 pounds, Myers is a little undersized. He will get pushed around by larger defensive linemen at times. He needs to add bulk and get stronger to be effective at the next level. He has only average initial quickness off the ball and he struggles to get to the second level and sustain blocks. He isn’t the most physically gifted player, but he is a smart player who understands blocking schemes and uses angles to his advantage. He has played every position on the line but he is better suited to play guard or center because he lacks the athleticism required to play tackle in the NFL. He doesn’t have a great deal of upside, but he is possibly the most versatile offensive lineman in the draft. He should find a spot on the second day of the 2005 NFL draft. Player News Feed
