Background

Clint Ingram attended Hallsville High School in Hallsville, Texas. As a senior he totaled 100 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 interception. He was named first team all-district and was considered to be one of the top 25 overall prospects in the state of Texas. He accepted a scholarship to Oklahoma where he sat out the 2001 season as a redshirt. The following season he served primarily as a special teams player and reserve linebacker. He finished the year with 11 tackles. As a sophomore, Clint was again used as a special teams player and reserve linebacker, totaling 5 tackles on the season. As a junior he started 11 of the team’s 13 games, finishing with 50 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles on the year. Clint Ingram had his most productive season as a senior, finishing with career highs in tackles (61), sacks (5), forced fumbles (2), and interceptions (5). He served as a team captain and missed one game with a hamstring injury. Clint was named second team all-big twelve for his play as a senior.

Analysis

Clint Ingram has a good combination of size and strength for a linebacker. He is strong at the point of attack and can shed blocks. He is a good run defender with the speed to make plays all over the field. He has the ability to cover tight ends and running backs coming out of the backfield. He really improved his pass coverage this past season, leading the Sooners with five interceptions on the year. He doesn’t have a great deal of experience, having spent his first two seasons (after his redshirt season) as a backup and special teams player. He does have a tendency to overpursue at times which will take him out of plays. He also needs to be more consistent on a week to week basis. Clint is a hard worker and a great practice guy. He has yet to reach his full potential so he does have some upside. He should be selected on the second day of the 2006 NFL draft.
