He accepted a scholarship to the University of West Virginia where he sat out the 2002 season as a redshirt. He earned a starting position at left guard the following season where he was named to various all-freshman teams. As a sophomore, Mozes started every game at left guard, earning first team all-big east honors in the process. As a junior, Dan moved from guard to center prior to the Maryland game where he would start the rest of the season. He was named first team all-Big East and second team All-America. He had offseason shoulder surgery which caused him to miss spring practices. As a senior, Dan Mozes started the entire season at center. Analysis
Dan Mozes is a versatile player with a ton of experience, having started at both guard and center over the past four years at West Virginia. During that time he has proven to be a very durable player who has only missed one game due to injury. He is an extremely hard worker and serves as a vocal leader. He plays hard on every down and has the “mean streak” you like to see in an offensive lineman. He is an intelligent player who understands blocking schemes and makes all the proper line calls. He has a quick first step but lacks great athleticism and has trouble getting to the second level at times. He lacks ideal size and strength for an interior offensive lineman. He isn’t very strong at the point of attack and he will struggle against bigger, stronger defensive linemen at times. He needs to do a better job of finishing his blocks. He would benefit from bulking up and increasing his strength. Dan had shoulder surgery both in high school and again in college. This could be a concern when it comes to his long-term durability. Dan Mozes was a great college center but he is not an elite pro prospect. He should be a mid-round pick on draft day. Player News Feed
