Undrafted Analysis
Ernest Shazor doesn't have a huge amount of experience, having only been a starter at safety for the past two seasons. In that time he has become one of the better players at his position in the entire nation. He is a huge safety with very good speed who is nearly big enough to be a linebacker. He is a great run defender and possibly the hardest hitting safety in the draft. He tackles low, wraps up and does a good job of finishing his tackles, but he doesn't always take proper angles to the ball carrier. In coverage he can be a liability if he is forced to cover a faster receiver one on one. He gets a good break on the ball and has average hands and ball skills. He also has a tendency to be fooled by the playaction pass. He does matchup well when asked to cover a tight end. Some believe Shazor could bulk up a little and become a linebacker in the NFL. I believe his future in the NFL is at the strong safety position. He is a very talented player who is a bit raw in coverage but should develop into a very good safety in the NFL. He should be a solid first day pick in April. Player News Feed
