Undrafted Analysis
Evan Mathis has a great deal of starting experience on the offensive line. He redshirted the 2000 season before earning the starting right tackle spot in 2001. He started at right tackle for three seasons and was moved to left guard prior to his senior season. He has good size but may need to add some bulk—he has the frame in which to do so. He displays good technique as a run blocker and has the athleticism to get to the second level and take out a linebacker. He will struggle at times when matched up against some of the larger defensive tackles. He is an intelligent player who understands blocking schemes and uses angles to his advantage. He needs to improve his pass blocking but he has a great deal of potential with quick feet and long arms that help keep defenders away from his body. He has the “mean streak you like to see in an offensive lineman and he almost always finishes his blocks. Evan had one of the best combine workouts among all offensive linemen with a 4.91 40 and 35 strength reps. He has been a player on the rise recently and could be selected as early as the second round on draft day. Player News Feed
