Frostee Rucker attended Tustin High School in Tustin, California where he played both running back and linebacker on the football team. As a senior, Frostee was named All-CIF division VI first team as a running back and second team all-Orange County as a linebacker. He was also named all-golden west league MVP his final year at Tustin. He accepted a scholarship to play linebacker at Colorado State where he sat out the 2001 season as a redshirt before transferring to USC the following season. He was forced to sit out the 2002 season due to NCAA transfer rules. During the spring of 2003, Frostee was switched from linebacker to defensive end due to injuries at the position. He played in every game as a sophomore, starting five games on the year. He finished the season with 26 tackles, 1 ½ sacks, 1 interception, and 1 forced fumble. Frostee missed a portion of the 2004 spring practices while recovering from surgery on a sprained right toe. He saw action in every game as a junior, totaling 29 tackles, 2 ½ sacks, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 forced fumble on the season. His senior season was a breakout year for Rucker as he finished with career highs in tackles (56), sacks (6 ½ ), interceptions (1), and forced fumbles (2).
Analysis
Frostee Rucker only had one year as a full-time starter, playing on a very talented defensive line at USC. He has an extremely quick first step which allows him to beat most tackles off the snap of the ball. He is a very good run defender and a solid pass rusher. He makes a lot of plays behind the line of scrimmage and excels at making tackles in the open field. Frostee is a pretty good pass rusher but he lacks great closing speed getting to the quarterback. He isn’t very strong at the point of attack and may need to bulk up and increase his strength to be an every down defensive end at the professional level. Frostee Rucker lacks a great deal of experience and has some things he needs to improve on, but he is a versatile player who could project as a defensive end or outside linebacker in the NFL. He should be selected on the second day of the 2006 NFL draft. Player News Feed
