He added 3 receptions for 22 yards and another score. He was named second team all-MIAA and third team all-region. As a sophomore, Race started 14 of 15 games, rushing for a career high 2,213 yards and 26 touchdowns on 247 attempts. He also caught 4 passes for 15 yards and a touchdown. His 8.96 yard per carry average as a sophomore set a new NCAA-II single season record. He was named first team all-MIAA for his play as a sophomore. Analysis

Germaine Race has been a great D-2 running back for Pittsburg State over the past four years. He has a good combination of size and strength for a running back. He hits the hole hard and is a powerful, between the tackles runner who will run right through arm tackles. He runs low to the ground and displays good balance. He breaks a lot of tackles and does a good job of finishing his runs. He isn’t very elusive in the open field but it routinely takes more than one defender to bring him down. Germaine lacks elite speed and will have a more difficult time breaking long runs at the professional level. He was pretty much non-existent in the Pittsburg State passing game (14 receptions in 4 years) and will need to prove to scouts that he can be a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield. Durability could be a cause for concern as Germaine battled through minor ankle and hamstring injuries throughout his career in college. Germaine was arrested after an altercation outside a bar in the summer of 2005, but the issue has since been resolved. Germaine Race has dominated at the D-2 level over the past few seasons, however, he is unlikely to have the same kind of success against NFL competition and he should be a second day pick in the 2007 NFL draft.
