Gilbert went on to play at Arizona where he became an immediate contributor, rushing for 56 yard on 18 carries and catching 5 passes for 81 yards as a true freshman. As a sophomore he rushed 8 times for 8 yards, scoring his first career touchdown in the process. He also caught 10 passes for 86 yards n the season. Harris became a bigger part of the offense as a junior, carrying the ball 67 times for 285 yards and 2 touchdowns. He caught 11 passes for 76 yards on the year as well. Analysis

Gilbert Harris is a fullback/running back “tweener” from the Arizona Wildcats. He has good size and strength for a fullback. He has good vision and is a nice between the tackles runner. He runs hard and breaks tackles but he isn’t very fast or elusive in the open field and he won’t break any long runs. He is a reliable receiver out of the backfield with soft hands. He isn’t a dominating lead blocker and will need to improve in that area at the next level. Gilbert Harris lacks ideal speed and agility of a running back and he lacks the blocking ability of a fullback. He also has had some off the field problems and injury concerns which may have an adverse effect on his draft stock. He will most likely be used as a short yardage/goal line back at the professional level and has a chance to be a late round pick in the 2006 NFL draft.
