Greg Lee attended Chamberlain High School in Tampa, Florida where he played football, basketball and ran track. He was an all-state performer on the basketball team at Chamberlain. He was a three-year starter who helped the football team to a 12-3 record and a state championship game appearance in 2001. As a senior he caught 44 passes for 658 yards and 12 touchdowns, leading Chamberlain to a 10-2 record. He was named second team all-state and was selected to play in the Hillsborough County all-star game. He accepted a scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh where he made an instant contribution, starting five games as a true freshman. He finished his first season at Pit with 10 receptions for 211 yards. As a sophomore, Lee led the team in receptions (68) and the conference in receiving yards per game (108), with 1,297 yards and 10 touchdowns on the year. He was named second team all-big east after his breakout sophomore campaign. As a junior, Lee totaled 49 receptions for 962 yards and 7 touchdowns. He still has another year of eligibility left but Greg has opted to skip his final year of college to enter the 2006 NFL draft.
Analysis
Greg Lee has good size for a receiver. He is a big, physical receiver who is strong enough to defeat the jam as well as fight for the ball when covered by bigger defensive backs. He is a hard worker who is always looking to improve his game. He runs precise routes and does a good job of getting yards after the catch. He’s a tough player who will make a difficult catch in traffic. Lee is also a solid blocker. Overall he has good hands but he will try to catch the ball with his body at times and he drops too many catchable passes. He lacks the ideal speed to stretch the field at the next level. Greg Lee has only been a full-time starter for two seasons. He is still a bit raw and would have benefited from another year in college. He does have a good deal of upside and should be a mid-round pick in the 2006 NFL draft. Player News Feed
