He was named first team all-desert valley league, all-CIF, all-western region, and honorable mention all-state for his performance as a senior. He went on to San Diego state where he caught 16 passes for 212 yards as a true freshman. He sat out the 2002 season as a redshirt before returning to lead the team with 55 receptions for 706 yards and 4 touchdowns as a sophomore, despite missing the final two games of the season with a shoulder injury. As a junior he led the Aztecs with 71 receptions for 863 yards and 6 touchdowns. Webb had his most productive season as a senior, finishing with 92 receptions for 1,109 yards and 10 touchdowns on the year.

Analysis

Jeff Webb has a good deal of experience having started the past three seasons for the Aztecs. He has a good combination of size and speed for a receiver. His speed allows him to beat most receivers deep. He has reliable hands and does a good job of catching the ball at its highest point. He adjusts well to poorly thrown footballs and makes some superb catches. He is also a good route runner. Jeff Webb didn’t play against top competition in the Mountain West conference. He needs to be more physical and improve his blocking to become a more complete receiver at the next level. Jeff Webb has been moving up draft boards since his impressive combine performance. He has all the tools to develop into a good receiver and should be selected on the second day of the 2006 NFL draft.
