Background

Jeremy Trueblood was a high school teammate of Mathias Kiwanuku at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis. Jeremy was a three-sport athlete at Cathedral, playing football, basketball, and track and field. He helped the football team to back to back state championships in 1998-99 and was an all-city and all-state performer 1999-2001. Jeremy played in the Indiana North-South high school all-star game in 2001 and signed to play at Boston College the next year. Trueblood served as a reserve offensive lineman during his first season at BC, before earning the starting left tackle job as a sophomore. Jeremy held onto the starting left tackle job for the next three years, earning all-big east honors as a junior in 2004 and a senior in 2005.

Analysis

Jeremy Trueblood is a huge offensive tackle with room to get bigger and stronger. He has a great deal of experience, having started at left tackle for Boston College in each of the past three seasons. He displays outstanding technique. He is tall with long arms that allow him to keep defenders away from his body. He is a smart, hard working player who gives his all on every down and always plays until the whistle is blown. That along with the mean streak he plays with on the field gives Trueblood all the intangibles you could want in an offensive lineman. He is a very good run blocker and a solid pass protector. He has been a very durable player during his career at Boston College. His height can cause problems for him. It makes it easier for defenders to get under his pads, which causes him to lose leverage. Trueblood lacks the footwork and athleticism you look for in a left tackle. He also has trouble with speed rushers and will most likely be forced to play right tackle in the NFL. Jeremy Trueblood’s size makes him a very intriguing prospect. He is solid in every area of his game but doesn’t stand out in any areas. He should be a first day pick who develops into a very good starting right tackle for the team that drafts him.
