Analysis
Justin Durant has a ton of experience, having started at linebacker the past 3 ½ seasons for Hampton. Justin is an intelligent player and a good leader. He is an athletic linebacker with the ability to make plays all over the field. He is a hard hitter and a solid wrap-up tackler. He takes good angles to the ball carrier and excels at making plays in the open field. He has the athleticism to be effective in coverage. Justin has a great deal of experience, but all of it came against lower level competition. He lacks great size and strength for a linebacker and as a result, he has a difficult time getting off blocks of bigger, stronger offensive linemen. He’s a versatile player who could play inside or outside. He would need to be in the right system where he would be protected by the defensive tackles to be an effective middle linebacker. He will most likely project as a weakside linebacker in the NFL due to his physical limitations. Justin Durant should be among the top small school prospects selected this year. He should be a first day pick in the 2007 NFL draft. Player News Feed
