Justin attended Northside High School in Roanoke, Virginia where he played running back and linebacker on the school's football team. As a junior he totaled 154 tackles, including a school record 98 solo tackles. As a senior he finished with 112 tackles and 4 sackson, on his way to first team all-conference, all-region, and all-state honors. He was named area defensive player of the year and was considered to be one of the best prospects in the state of Virginia. He accepted a scholarship to play at UCLA where he spent his freshman season primarily as a special teams player. He did finish with 5 tackles on the season as a freshman. He earned a starting job as a sophomore and finished with 98 tackles, 1 sack, and 3 interceptions, on his way to being named honorable mention all-pac ten. Just prior to his junior season, Justin sprained his ankle, an injury that bothered him most of the season. He finished the season with 57 tackles, 2 sacks and 4 interceptions. He was named honorable mention all-pac ten for the second consecutive year. Justin was forced to miss spring practices in 2005 while recovering from arthroscopic surgery he had on his injured right ankle. He finished his senior season with 43 tackles.
Analysis
Justin London has a good deal of experience against top competition, having started at linebacker for UCLA in each of the past three seasons. Justin does a good job of reading and reacting to what the offense is doing. He is an aggressive run defender who hits hard and displays solid tackling technique. He has good range and the ability to make plays all over the field. He lacks great size for a middle linebacker and may need to bulk up and increase his strength to be effective at the next level. He needs to improve his ability to shed blocks of opposing offensive linemen. He can be a little overaggressive at times which will cause him to miss some tackles. He is solid in coverage with good hands and the ability to cover most tight ends and running backs coming out of the backfield. He has had some injury problems at UCLA so his durability could come into question, however, he has proven to be a tough player who will play through most minor injuries. Justin London is an intelligent player who should be selected on the second day of the 2006 NFL draft. Player News Feed
