Analysis

Justin Miller is entering the NFL after his junior season, having opted to forgo his senior season at Clemson. Miller burst onto the scene with eight interceptions as a freshman in 2001 and has be a full-time starter ever since. He has proven to be a very durable player, having played in all 37 games of his three year career. At a shade under 5'10", Miller lacks the height some of the other top corners have, but the guy plays bigger than he is and has outstanding speed and good strength for a player his size. He is a physical corner who does a good job of jamming receivers at the line, rarely allowing them to get a clean release. He has very good ball skills and plays the ball extremely well when it's in the air. Miller is also a very good run defender who is fundamentally sound when it comes to tackling. He is a very aggressive player and can get overaggressive at times, which can lead to penalties. He also has a tendency to be fooled on the play-action pass as a result of him being overly aggressive against the run. He is not only one of the top corners in the nation, but one of the top return specialists as well. He averaged 35.1 yards per return as a freshman, 24.5 as a sophomore, and led the nation as a junior with a 33 yards per kick return. He also had three kickoff returns for touchdowns as a junior, including two in a single game. Justin Miller can do it all. He can play the run, he can play the pass, he can return kicks. He is one of the better all-around football players in the draft and should be a first round pick on draft day.
