Kay-Jay Harris is different than your average NFL prospect. After high school he played four years of minor league baseball. Then he played two years of JUCO football at Garden City Community College in Kansas. He transferred to West Virginia in 2003 where he spent his junior year as a backup to Quincy Wilson. He finally got a chance to start as a senior and finished the year with just under 1,000 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns. He has very little wear and tear on his body with only 256 career carries. But due to his four years of baseball, Harris will be much older than most rookies at the start of the season. He will be 26 years of age by that time. Harris is a strong running back with a good combination of size and speed for the position. He hits the hole hard and is a great between the tackles runner with enough speed to break the long run at any time. He is only an average receiver and really needs to work on his route running. He also needs to improve his pass blocking ability to become a three down back at the next level. He needs to work on being a more patient runner instead of looking for the big play every time he touches the ball. Harris has the talent to be a first day pick but his lack of experience, durability concerns, and age could push him back to an early second day pick. I expect him to go in either the third or fourth round in April. Player News Feed
