After being elected team captain for a second consecutive season, Kevin Burnett has proven to be a true leader both on and off the field. Burnett would have been in the NFL this year, but he took a medical redshirt after tearing his ACL in the first game of the 2002 season. He turned in a solid effort in 2003, finishing with 90 total tackles on the season. He is a converted safety who has one of the best combinations of size, speed and instincts in the draft. His speed gives him the ability to make tackles sideline to sideline or cover a running back coming out of the backfield. He does a good job of taking on and shedding blocks of opposing offensive linemen and is an explosive tackler. Burnett is an excellent athlete who still hasn't realized his full potential. If he puts it all together, he should be a very special player at the next level. Player News Feed
