Undrafted Analysis
Khalif Barnes began his career at Washington as a defensive tackle in 2000. As a redshirt freshman in 2001, Barnes moved to the other side of the ball and has been a starting tackle ever since. He has proven to be a very durable player in that time, starting 42 consecutive games before breaking his wrist halfway through his senior year, effectively ending his season and his career at the University of Washington. He has also been an excellent leader both on and off the field. He graduated in December with a degree in Law, Society, and Justice, and he was elected team captain this past season. He's an excellent pass protector with long arms that help keep defenders away from his body. He isn't a mauler in the run game. He may need to bulk up some and increase his strength to be a more effective run blocker. He added 15 pounds between his junior and senior seasons and has the frame to add more bulk. He is probably the best athlete in the draft at the tackle position and should test well in his workouts. He does have the footwork and agility to play left tackle in the NFL. He is a solid second round pick at the moment and I wouldn't be surprised to see him move up into the first round after he puts his athleticism on display at his workouts. Player News Feed
