Analysis

Kirk Morrison has great deal of experience, having started at middle linebacker for the Aztecs since his freshman year. In his four years at San Diego State, Kirk has proven to be a true leader both on and off the field. This Aztec team captain leads by example in the weight room, on the practice field, and in film study. He has good size and instincts. He doesn't have ideal speed, but he makes up for that by being one of the best when it comes to reading plays and putting himself in position to make the stop. He is very aggressive and an explosive tackler, but at times he can get over aggressive and will sometimes run himself out of plays. He needs to improve his pass coverage ability as well as his ability to effectively shed blocks. Kirk has potential to develop into a very good NFL linebacker and should be among the top middle linebackers selected in the 2005 NFL draft.
