Marcus Lawrence has only two years of major college football experience, having spent two years at Butler County Junior College prior to transferring to South Carolina. He stepped in and immediately became and impact player for them on defense. He has the size you look for and pretty good speed for a middle linebacker. He has excellent instincts and is a great run-stuffer in the middle. He is a really hard hitter and is at his best when making tackles in the open field. He is good at reading plays and is effective on the blitz. He isn’t bad in coverage, but he there is room for him to improve in that area. The area he struggles the most in is shedding blocks of opposing offensive linemen. He is a very talented player who has yet to realize his full potential. Marcus should be a solid first day pick in the 2005 NFL draft. Player News Feed
