Background

Montavious Stanley attended Bolles High School in Albany, Georgia where he played football, basketball, and threw shot put and discus on the track and field team. He was a three-time all-region player on the basketball team who averaged 10 points and 10 rebounds per game as a senior. As a sophomore defensive tackle on the football team, Stanley totaled 12 sacks on his way to all-region honors. As a junior he had a career high 17 sacks, helping the team to a 13-2 record and a state championship. He was named all-region and all-state for his performance as a junior. As a senior he finished with 15 sacks, leading the team to an 11-2 record. He was named all-region and all-state for the second consecutive season. Following the season he was selected to play in the Georgia-Florida all-star game. He accepted a scholarship to Louisville where he served as a reserve defensive lineman as a true freshman, totaling 16 tackles on the season. As a sophomore he started 11 games at defensive end and 1 game at defensive tackle, finishing the season with 37 tackles and 3 sacks. He continued to start at defensive tackle as a junior, totaling 30 tackles, 4 sacks and a career high 2 forced fumbles on the year. His senior season was Stanley’s most productive season in college. He finished the season with 1 forced fumble and career highs in tackles (48) and sacks (5 ˝).
