His uncle, Arthur Warren played for Fresno State in the early 90’s. He redshirted the 2002 season and made in instant impact as a redshirt freshman in 2003, totaling 37 tackles and 3 interceptions on the year. His sophomore season was a breakout year for Marshall. He was named second team all-wac for his performance that season. He led the team in tackles as a junior with 78. He also picked off three passes and broke-up 11 more. Analysis
Richard Marshall is one of the most complete cornerback prospects available this year. He made an impact as a redshirt freshman and has been a starter the past two seasons for the Bulldogs. He is a smart player who has a good backpedal and fluid hips. He is fundamentally sound, with good ball skills and soft hands. He adjusts well to the ball when it’s in the air and is a good open field runner after he makes the interception. When he has the ball in his hands, he is a threat to take it all the way. He has returned 3 of his 9 career interceptions for touchdowns. He is also a good run defender and a sure tackler, who led the Bulldogs in tackles as a junior. He has the speed to stay with most receivers but he will have matchup problems with larger receivers at times. He lacks great size and may benefit from bulking up a bit and increasing his strength. He is an aggressive player but he tends to be a bit overaggressive at times which can lead to him being beat. He also has problems in zone coverage from time to time. Richard Marshall only has two full seasons as a starter under his belt. He hasn’t yet reached his full potential and he would’ve benefited from another year of college ball. He has a good deal of upside and should be a first day pick in the 2006 NFL draft. Player News Feed
