Analysis
Ryan McBean has been starting at defensive tackle for Oklahoma State since transferring from Hinds Community College two years ago. During that time he has proven to be a durable player who has started all 24 games at Oklahoma State. He has a good combination of strength and athleticism for a defensive lineman. He is a hard worker with a non-stop motor. He has a quick first step, allowing him to beat most offensive linemen off the snap. He is strong at the point of attack and he does a good job of getting leverage on his opponents. He is able to penetrate the line of scrimmage and get to the quarterback or chase a running back down from behind. Ryan McBean lacks ideal size for a defensive tackle. He may need to bulk up if he is going to continue to play inside at the next level. He only has two years of division I experience under his belt so he is still a bit raw. He could play defensive tackle in a 4-3 or defensive end in a 3-4 defensive scheme. McBean has a good deal of upside and should be a second day pick in the 2007 NFL draft. Player News Feed
