Analysis

Stefan Lefors is a two-year starter at quarterback, having sat out the 2000 season as a redshirt and having spent the following two seasons as a backup to current Houston Texan quarterback Dave Ragone. He lacks ideal size and arm strength for an NFL quarterback, but he can be deadly accurate on his short to intermediate range passes. He completed 73.5% of his passes as a senior and over 66% of his career attempts. He is an extremely intelligent player and he rarely makes mental mistakes. He finished his senior season with a touchdown to interception ratio of nearly 7 to 1 with 20 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions. He has good timing and does an excellent job of leading his receiver. He will stand in the pocket and deliver the ball with the rush in his face. He also has the mobility to escape the rush and make a play with his feet when needed. He is a born leader and an excellent game manager. Stefan Lefors has all the intangibles you look for in a quarterback, but his lack of size and arm strength will really hurt his draft stock. He is probably an early second day pick but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him defy the odds once again and make a push into the late third round area. The kid can play.
