Undrafted Analysis
Vince Carter took over as the Sooners’ starting center early on in his freshman year due to an injury and he’s been starting for them ever since then. He has been one of the top centers in college football the past few seasons and a finalist for the Rimington award, the past two years. He is a very athletic center, with good speed and agility. He is equally good at both pass blocking and run blocking, but he will struggle at times against larger defensive tackles. He needs to hit the weights and add some bulk if he wants to be effective against some of the bigger defensive tackles in the NFL. He made up for his lack of superior size and strength with good intelligence and near perfect technique, which may not be enough at the next level. Carter has proven to be an excellent leader and is among the top prospects at the center position in the 2005 NFL draft. He is a late first day or early second day prospect at this point.
